Turkey had a bittersweet start because I was excited to explore the country, but at the same time my friend that I had been traveling with for 6 months was headed home. After goodbyes were said I was released into Istanbul by the Turkish Customs Officials like a dog out of a cage. I was amped to see and do everything, and that was just what I did.

SEE: Grande Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Pamukkale, Çeşme, Izmir, Ephesus

SURF: Do not bother with trying to look for waves (at least in summer). I spent a week searching and didn’t find any surf bigger than a ripple in a bathtub. There is surf there, but it is very fickle. If you have your board with you it is best to store it at luggage storage at Istanbul’s International Airport (TAV).
